SAINT MICHAEL’S GOLDEN-DOMED CATHEDRAL

One of the oldest monasteries of Kiev. The whole complex includes destroyed in the 1930th and reconstructed in middle 1990s cathedral in honor of St. Michael the Archangel, using Ukrainian Baroque style, as well as refectory and St. John the Divine (1713) and a bell tower (1716-1719).

St. Michael’s Cathedral supposedly  the first church with a gilded upper part which started the Kiev Rus tradition of decorating cupolas this way.
